The Grange, Edinburgh

The following project was completed in 2010 for a client we had worked for previously.

Although very impressive the property had not seen much in the way of upgrading for many years and it was clear it would require some major changes to suit the needs of a large young family.

Our challenge was to introduce 21st century facilities to this 19th century dwelling whilst retaining and conserving the period features and grandeur of a bygone age.

This truly was a top to bottom refurbishment covering many aspects including the removal of masonry walls, the fitting of high load bearing steel beams, an entirely new plumbing and central heating system, a complete rewiring to include category five data wiring, three new bathrooms, state of the art kitchen, restoration of the sash and case windows, replacement of made to measure double glazed sash and case windows, extensive stone work, internal wood panelling, internal cornicing, a complete strip back and redecoration, gardens and landscaping.

As the clients were not in Edinburgh at the time the works were underway we were in complete control of the day to day running of the project. We procured all necessary building materials and managed all contractors to maintain the smooth running of the works.

In the main communications were made by telephone, text and email with less than seven client visits to site in the entire duration of the works. We were able to achieve this by working very closely with our client who was a pleasure to work with mainly due to the clear vision of how their home should look coupled with their decisive nature which allowed the programme to be kept on schedule.

We believe this is how real hands on focussed project management can and should work for the benefit of our clients.
